BLESSED ARE THE EYES WHICH SEE

BLESSED ARE THE EYES WHICH SEE

(Monday, October 23)

“‘All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.’ Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.’” (Lk 10:22-24)

I “see the things I see,” every day, because I care to look in their direction and notice them, for whatever reason. I can see the presence of God in or through things and people, if I have the eyes to see this way. From today’s Gospel-reading, we learn that it is the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who gives us the eyes to see this way, because it is He who “reveals” the Father to us, when He wills to do so. Note that right after this, He says to His disciples, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see…”

Let me re-connect with Christ in some heartfelt prayer this morning, that my eyes may be blessed with seeing the things God wants me to see today, first and foremost His presence in my life. “Blessed are You, O Lord. Teach me Your statutes!
