St. Paraskevi Church, Greenlawn (NY, USA): Parish Talk

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 7:00pm Sister Vassa will give a talk at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Greenlawn, New York (1 Shrine Pl, Greenlawn, NY 11740). The talk is entitled, Becoming a Disciple of Christ in the Modern Day. Sister Vassa will address the issues of Orthodox Christian ‘spirituality’ as it relates to our engagement in the various spheres of our church and society. Does our tradition teach us to ‘be quiet and pray,’ also amidst the political discussions of our times, or are we to be engaged in these? If we can be engaged, – how? Sister will outline the ascetics of learning to live and love, as an Orthodox Christian, in and also through our socio-political realities. At the end of her talk, she will invite a discussion of this difficult topic, so come and join us!
