JUST A LITTLE FAITH

“He said therefore, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.’” (Lk 13: 18-19)

How subtle is the “Man,” the God-Man Jesus Christ, Who has “sown” just a tiny “mustard seed” of faith in our little hearts. But it is enough, even to provide “nests” for others, nay, even to move mountains (Lk 17: 6), – if only we don’t obstruct its growth in our “gardens.”

So let me not be discouraged today, by the “smallness” of my faith. Because the Sower Who has gifted it to me takes care of its growth, by His light and His “rain,” which He sends both “on the just and on the unjust” (Mt 5: 45). Let me open my heart to Him this morning, and… let it rain, or shine, or both, by God’s loving will and grace. “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Lk 12: 32)
