KEEPING IT SIMPLE

“And, behold, a woman, who was ill with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I just touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, take heart; your faith has made you whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Mt 9: 20 – 22)

It took great faith to think as this woman did. But the action she took was so simple; almost naïve: If I just touch His garment… She simply came close, and touched. Despite the potential embarrassment, rejection, or whatever else she could have imagined, had she thought out her little plan more thoroughly.

I can tend to over think things, creating barriers and complications to communion with God. But He is not complicated. When I feel overwhelmed, and life gets overcomplicated in my own head, let me hand it all over to Him, because in Him things are simple. I just need to come, get in touch, and keep in touch. Even if it’s just the hem of His garment, it has healing on offer. And that doesn’t change.
